Design Expo & Trade Show

Last month we were lucky enough to travel to the beautiful Birchwood Manor in Whippany, NJ for a design trade show. We got to meet lovely local and national vendors and are here to give you the scoop on who to go to for all your remodeling needs.

Lighting & Hardware

EZS - Estin-Zirkman Sales

EZS - Estin-Zirkman Sales are located in Manville, NJ and provide lighting services to designers, dealers, and contractors in the New York and New Jersey area. They are award winning and an ALA certified manufacturer representative selling top brands such as AFX and Kichler Lighting. Using EZS is a great way to know you are getting quality lighting products for your project. Also be sure to check out their website for great blog content like landscape and holiday lighting tips plus their product spotlight page. Here are some products we saw and loved at the trade show.

Jaxx 20'' Led Semi-Flush AFX Lighting Jaxx 20'' Led Semi-Flush comes in black, satin brass, and polished chrome. This small (9.5"x9.5"x20") but mighty light would be the perfect cap to any powder room.

Circle AFX Lighting Fixture in Brass AFX Lighting Maggie 12'' Led Flush Mount comes in satin nickel and satin brass. It features a really cool bubble design around the perimeter that invokes a fun champagne toast sort of feel to it and would make a splash in any room.

Waterworks

Who else would we recommend for top of the line fixtures but Waterworks? Yes the price tag is steep but you get what you pay for and their fixtures more than earn their price tag with incredible design and quality.

When it comes to utilitarian design elegance is never usually the focus but Waterworks pulls it off. If you have the cash to splash about we definitely recommend investing in these timeless fittings and fixtures. However if you can't justify spending so much on fixtures be sure to still visit their website because they also sell tile, stone, and custom cabinetry!

Furniture & Décor

Michelangelo Designs Group

While not strictly speaking a local mom and pop shop they were founded in 1985 New Jersey and still operate out of the area today. They represent Italian furniture manufacturers and seek to bring sleek European designs to the United States. And on a side note they had the most comfortable chair I had ever, EVER, sat in. It felt like a cool yet warm leather embrace and I cannot recommend it enough if you have any need for a chair, order this one! It's called Diletta and it's by Domus Design.

Another great company I learned about at the event was Wostbrock Home.

Wostbrock Home

Westbrock is a family run company, 3 generations strong that started in New Jersey. They are a retail store, have amazing trade resources and offer interior design services as well. Such a great company to know.

Innovations

Innovations was founded in 1975 in New York City Innovations has their own local design studio, as well as showrooms worldwide. All of their products are ASTM-E84 Class A Fire Rated, impressive when you see how creative and well... innovative the material selection is for their wallcoverings. They include everything from wood, cork, vinyl, grasscloth, recycled metallic paper, and more.

The materials used in the photo above are wood veneers with a foil underlay.

Phthalate Free, Ultra Low VOC

Even with more traditional material such as vinyl they still made room for improvements. In the photo above you see a phthalate free, ultra low VOC vinyl wallcovering that even passes California's residential requirements.

Duchateau

Duchateau is a great wood flooring and wallcoverings company. We wanted to shout them out because in addition to having quality luxury designs they have also partnered with National Forrest Foundation. They have committed to planting 1 tree for every floor sold (200 or more sqft) with special attention given to areas recently devested by wildfires. Wood is always a gorgeous material to have in your home much like stone. It is a strong material that connects and grounds you to the environment while also being true works of art. If only we could plant marble trees! We still do what we can at Stonetrash selling remnants so excess stone doesn't go to waste but would love to give back more.

Tile & Stone

At last our favorite category!

Agate Blue Kitchen BacksplashPrecious Stone Samples

Dente Trading

Dente Trading is located in Cedar Grove, NJ they have a stunning line of semi precious stone slabs. The backlit agate look is such a treat to see in person and would make a fabulous addition to any bathroom. They also carry more traditional marble, granite, and quartz for all your kitchen needs.

Silestone SamplesMitered Edge Sample

Cosentino- The mega brand had a mega great team at the show they were very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Dekton, their engineered stone brand is not every fabricators favorite. It is a very hard material which is one of the reasons homeowners love it but it can chew up a blade like no other. Cosentino actually requires you to take a course before they certify you can cut their material. Is it worth your time to find the right fabricator if you have your heart set on Dekton, we think so! Just know it may not be simplest road to go down.
